Every American knows if the USA Coast Guide displays two hurricane flags it is time to close hurricane shutters. If you still do not have hurricane shutters, it is time to buy them. These shutters are able to protect our homes against the most fierce tropical storms, cyclones and typhoons.

If you have a property close to the shore of the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean or live in one of the US states affected by above mentioned types of storms, you need hurricane shutters. They do not only protect your windows against big winds, but flying objects.

Today there are various types of hurricane shutters or so-called panel systems. The most widely used are storm panel shutters, accordion shutters, Bahama shutters, Colonial shutters, plywood and roll-down shutters. Storm panel shutters are made of steel. They are divided into three types. Tracks and bolts are used in the first and the second types of shutters, but they are attached differently. The third type incorporates only bolts. These hurricane shutters are removable, inexpensive and strong. Accordion shutters are divided into one- and two-piece types.

They are regulated manually. Roll-down and Bahama shutters are attached right above the window. They not only protect against storm, but provide shade. Roll-down shutters are lowered both automatically and manually. If there is nobody to help you in case of storm, you are better to choose colonial shutters made of aluminum. These shutters are attached alongside of the window. One person can easily make them storm-ready, as well as Bahama shutters.

When ordering hurricane shutters, measure doors and windows before. The best way is to hire an expert to install them. But if you decided to do it yourself, find instructions and follow them to avoid problems in the future.
